“I look at issues from three lenses - counselling and organisational psychology and mediation - because people, families and workplaces are rarely separate. “

Counselling and organisational psychologist
and
accredited mediator

Most psychologists work from one viewpoint. My training in counselling and organisational psychology gives me two - family and career - and my mediation skills add a third: how to help people actually resolve deeply entrenched conflict.

Counselling Psychology: provides the clinical foundation to heal emotional strain, address, anxiety or trauma and restore personal wellbeing.

Organisational Psychology: Unpacks the pressure cookers of leadership, executive stress, decision, fatigue, and career demands.

Accredited Mediation: brings practical, structured tools to help individuals, couples and families move towards agreements that assist in resolving entrenched conflict and navigate critical conversations.

When work and life collide

A female psychologist with a business man counselling client.

Over more than 30 years, I have seen successful people who thrive in their high pressure demanding careers, until one day they don’t.

They may be decision makers gripped by decision fatigue or struggling with their hyper-vigilance. Their perfectionism and control issues follow them home.

I see the partners and kids back home who settle for whatever energy is left over and resentment builds

My approach is to provide a thoughtful, confidential space to put these issues in perspective - to understand what's happening and find constructive ways forward.

Experienced support for individuals, couples and families

My early clinical training was in the US in some demanding settings - general and psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment programs and adolescent services - where I learnt to stay calm and compassionate.

Over the years I’ve continued to study, to draw on the latest research, to add to my qualifications… to help clients with career and family pressures.

Some of my clients continue to work with me by video link after moving overseas for new jobs or romance.

I know how they feel… I did the same thing.

I came to Australia for love.

Cross-cultural studies have long been a passion of mine, driven by my multilingual background.

I have worked with more than 50 cultures, helping people settle into their new lives, helping them to navigate cultural differences and new expectations.

And, I had my own firsthand insight into the complexities of immigration and personal identity shifts.

I fell in love with an Australian in my hometown Washington DC, we married and moved to Sydney.

It’s been my home ever since.

Yes, that’s me at Vivid.

Would you like to talk?

If you are considering counselling or mediation, and would like to know if I am the right person to help, you are welcome to get in touch.
